Who is Exempt from Kenyan eTA?

The following categories of travelers do not require a Kenyan Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).

Kenya Residents

Hold a valid Kenya permanent residence, work permit, other official passes, or reentry pass.

Citizens of East African Community (EAC) Partner States

Nationals of Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda enjoy up to 180 days stay without an eTA.

Nationals of Visa-Exempt Countries:

These travelers can visit without an eTA for specified durations (typically up to 90 days).

Transit & Transportation

Holders of International Organization Laissez-Passers

  • Includes official travel documents from the following organizations
  • United Nations, African Union, African Development Bank, International Monetary Fund, World Bank, COMESA, Desert/Red Locust Control Organizations, IATA, ELCI, URTNA, ILO, African Airlines Travel Association, CIP, ARC, AHF, Afreximbank.

Diplomatic, Official, or Service Passport Holders

  • From the Republic of Turkey (up to 90 days including family members), Brazil (90 days), India (90 days), and China (30 days).

Serving Members of the British Military

  • Exempt from eTA when traveling for official duty.

Before starting your application, ensure you have the following:

  • Valid passport (minimum 6 months validity with at least one blank page)
  • Selfie or passport-type photo
  • Contact details (email & phone number)
  • Travel itinerary (arrival & departure)
  • Accommodation booking confirmation
  • Payment method (credit/debit card, etc.)

  • Medical: Referral letter from hospital
  • Conference: Invitation/participation letter
  • Employment: Contract document
  • Resettlement: Supporting documents
  • Vaccination or test results certificates
For Business Travelers
  • Invitation letter from the company
  • Company registration copy
For Family Visits
  • Invitation letter from host
  • Host's ID/Passport/Alien Card/Entry permit
For Diplomatic Travel
  • Diplomatic, Official, or Service passport
  • Official letter from country of origin/organization
