I like my game rare thank you
Buffalo Springs and Shaba are in Isiolo at the northern foot of Kenya. Together with adjacent Samburu and divided by Ewaso Nyiro river, they cover about 300 sq km.
Compact in area but hugely beautiful in wildlife and scenery. They’re also home to animals you won’t find in any other major Kenyan park. The blue-legged Somali ostrich, endangered Grevy’s zebra, beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe and the gerenuk.
In Shaba, you might be lucky enough to spot the highly endangered Williamson’s lark. As part of the Samburu Ecosystem, Buffalo Springs and Shaba maintain game that ranges freely in the reserves and roams far into lands owned by the local communities.
Temperatures range from 30ºC during hottest months to 20ºC between July and September. Annual rainfall averages between 100mm to 300mm.
